Wilmington is located in New Hanover County and is known as the Port City. It's home to some 99,000 residents as well as the University of North Carolina at Wilimington. It includes beaches of the Cape Fear Coast such as Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Wrightsville Beach. Wilmington is a tourist hot spot because of the climate, it's historic district, and events such as Riverfest and the Azalea Festival. Another tourist attraction is Airlie Gardens and Screen Gem Studios where TV shows such as One Tree Hill and Dawson's Creek were filmed. Wilmington is also home to quite a few championship golf courses. People can see the World War II battleship, the USS North Carolina. Local lore states the USS North Carolina is a ghost ship. Tourists flee to Wilmington to go boating and surfing. Many people also come just to bask in the the sun and comb the beach.
